Can campers leave during camp or leave
camp early?
Every session at the Elite Day Camp is an important
part of the week, however if a player has a prior commitment
(e.g. soccer game, family event…) then you may
leave camp. Campers must identify conflict prior to
the start of camp (email menssoccer@athletics.ucsb.edu)
or at the latest during registration, and will only
be able to leave with properly identified parent or
guardian on the day of departure.
How can campers be contacted at camp?
During the duration of the camp, parents and/or guardians
will be able to contact the camp director, on his
cell phone at 805-705-4199. It is asked that parents
and/or guardians only contact this number in an emergency.
What happens if it rains at camp?
If it begins to rain at camp then we will be able
to conduct a session within The
School of Church Farm “Barn” athletic center.
The camp provides an excellent rainy day program that
encompasses classroom sessions as well. (e.g. College
Connection Forum, Skills Development, Video Analysis…)
Can parents watch during camp?
Parents are welcome to watch their children at camp
during the evening sessions. (e.g. scrimmages &
evening games) Residential camp parents are encouraged
to attend the Camp Games/Final (Last Day of Camp).
Will the campers have access to athletic
trainers?
Campers have access to trainers at all times. (24-hours a
day)
What should I bring to Residential Camp?
Cleats that are already broken in. Don't buy a new
pair of shoes to wear at camp unless you have enough time
to break them in. New shoes can give you blisters.
For Goalkeepers: An extra goalkeeper jersey. During
the hot summer months you will need a fresh jersey for each
session. If you wash your jerseys at night they will be fresh
for the next day.
Indoor shoes for possible indoor sessions and casual
evening wear. Sometimes because of bad weather sessions will
be conducted indoors.
A warm-up suit and/or rain gear
For Goalkeepers: Long goalkeeper pants or sweatpants
for breakaway sessions.
Plenty of tee shirts and shorts
Linens, blankets, pillow and towels.
Sandals for the showers
Bathroom items e.g. soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste
and deodorant
A fan. Rooms are not air-conditioned.
Laundry detergent. You will need to wash your dirty
gear
An alarm clock. You don't want to miss breakfast!
A calling card or change so you can call home and tell
everyone that your are doing great.
Sun- screen. Ouch!
Spending money for evening snacks, laundry or the camp
store.
Athletic tape and wraps if you need them. There will
be a trainer on hand to assist you but you need to bring your
own supplies.
A water bottle. You don't want to get dehydrated. 5-gallon
jugs will be provided at each field, but you need to bring
own personal water bottle.
There may be some other things you can think of but
if you bring all of the above you will be in good shape. Don't
forget there will be a camp store for you to purchase your
favorite gear. |
